Hello everyone,

I want to apply for New Zealand/Australia immigration. I have done Bachelors of Computer Engineering and have experience of around 5 years (1 year as a software engineer and 4 years Information Security) and i have done some very renowned professional certifications like CISSP and CISA.

I am unable to find my relevant field in the ACS assessment guidelines. Tough ICT Security Analyst is more close but the description of assigned duties mentioned in that document I found them very different like it is mentioned there Database Design and Backup etc. Because normally database administrators performs DB related tasks not security analyst. So, that's what make me confuse regarding my eligibility for immigration.

Please suggest me, if anyone knows something about it, as i am working as a information security but i am not handling such DB related activities.

I am hoping to get good advice from you people. Thanks

Hi Amir Rashid,

In my opinion, don't bother much about your job description. Just make sure that your occupation is listed in the Long Term Skills Shortage List.

If exact match is not found for your current job title, look for the exact "alternative title" at the following page:
1220.0 - ANZSCO - Australian and New Zealand Standard Classification of Occupations, First Edition, 2006

In your case, it looks like your job title can be ICT Security Specialist or Security Administrator. Both occupations refer to 262112 occupation on ANZSCO list of occupations.

Make sure all your past and present employers provide you with the job description before you apply for residency.

I am suggesting on my personal understanding and being an IT professional.
