I am planning to emigrate to Crete from UK later this year. I receive UK State Pension which will eventually be paid into a Greek bank account. I have been told that in Greece there is no tax free allowance, as in UK, and that I will be paying 22% income tax on every Euro of pension.

Is this so?

Thanks

Hi Howard

Don't know if this helps, but I am in receipt of both a UK state pension, and a Ministry of Defence pension, both of which are taxed in the UK uder the double taxation agreement.

I don't have a Greek bank account and get all funds via ATM. I own a home in Greece that I built and a car, and have no links with the UK.

My Greek accountant completes annual Greek tax return and declares tax paid in UK submitting UK tax forms as proof.
