Due to unforeseen circumstances (last minute holiday coupled with dog eating my Halifax Clarity Card), I'm having to get my euros exchanged here.

Has anyone got any preferences/advice for the exchange houses here in Dubai?

It will be AED to EUR.
I think I'll be budgeting about AED3000 as it's only a week long holiday.

(I did do a quick search and I'll I've found is "don't go to the bigger malls for exchange")

I like Al Ansari Exchange for my currency exchanges. If you know the exchange rate on the day you go, if their board says different you can usually get it as close as possible. But then I'm cheeky.

"don't go to the bigger malls for exchange". I have usually found Al ansari rates to be quite competitive. I usually went to the one in the Lulu "Mall" in Al Barsha. In any case, for 3000 Dhs where you go does not make a big difference.

Apart from that I usually use ATMs to draw money in the destination country when I travel. Thats the best rate one can get, though my bank (HSBC) charges 20 Dhs per international money withdrawal which is reasonable.
