Hi and welcome to the forum!

On the health insurance issue, just be sure that your husband gets the documents from Newcastle to show your status under the UK health care system. For retirees, there is a reciprocity system so that you'll be covered by the French health care system when you move here.

The French national health care system doesn't cover 100% of most things, so you'll want to look into a mutuelle (top up insurance). These are regulated companies, however, so you shouldn't have to worry about pre-existing conditions. Just find one that covers what you will need. (The costs normally run about 50 to 100€ per month per person covered.)
Cheers,
Bev

Not a bad idea to have your long form birth certificates. Various agencies tend to ask for them and it saves having to wait for the mails. Some agencies will ask for birth certificates dated no more than 3 months ago - though legally, they can only require "recent" birth certificates for procedures involving marriage or marital status.
Cheers,
Bev
