Hello, Can anyone tell me their experiences of working as an HGV truck driver in Spain? Is the pay any good generally, are the conditions, benefits of the companies bad? Thank you.

I can't tell you anything about truck driving specifically, but in general, salaries in Spain are amongst the lowest in western Europe so expect to earn considerably less than where you are now.
Nobody comes to Spain for work opportunities unless their current employer is sending them on an expat package.

I presume you mean moving to Spain and working as an HGV driver?

I seem to remember that even before Brexit UK HGV licences were not exchangeable for Spanish, or at least not without retraining - in Spanish of course.

For sure it can't be any easier now but first there is the catch 22 that you cannot get a Spanish licence for anything without first being resident but you can't get residency without a job offer which you have no hope of getting because you won't have a licence to do it.

Totally apart from licence issues to employ a non EU citizen Spanish employers must demonstrate that they had tried but failed to fill their vacancy from within the EU, that alone will be enough to thwart your plan.

If I were young enough I would head for Aus, my daughters FIL has said they are crying out for Long Distance Drivers and pay stupid amounts of money and great conditions..
The ones who collect from the farm earn a minimum of A$120,000 (about €70,000) a year and only work 10months.
And the Uk licence is exchangeable.

Not here though now and Ive been told and seen licences exchanged recently from the UK (last knockings from 2020) and all the LGV and HGV classes are not included unless you take a test....well on the three I have seen anyway..
I still have C1 and C and CE but they run out in 2025 as Spain only allows five years on these types of licence not 10 before renewal.. I exchanged at the end of 2020 and was told that I would only get a five year licence as I would then need a different medical and possibly a retest.
I wont bother to renew as I doubt I will need to drive these types of vehicles.......
