hi i want to move to France next year with my two children who will be five and nine months, i love all of france but really need help to know where would be the best for living and working with children.

It depends quite a bit on your circumstances. Ideally, you'd want to move to an area where you have family - because of the frequent and long school holidays, you need some form of child care while you're working and the kids are off from school. In France, most people seem to plant the kids with Grandma and Grandpa, but obviously that's not an alternative for us foreigners.

The other matter is the "working" part. It depends quite a bit on your line of work and where you're most likely to be able to find employment.

Do you have any areas currently in mind? I'm sure folks here could give you some feedback on specific areas more easily than picking a place out of the 30,000+ towns in France.

It's quite difficult to answer. It's like saying, "I like all of Europe, where should I live?" There's no answer.

It quite depends on what you require vs what you prefer. I recommend you begin by asking questions to understand what you cannot do without vs what would be nice. And to look not only from your own perspective but from that of your children, as well.

Is city or country life important? Do you want to be close to your family (even if they're in the UK)? Where in France are there jobs that match your competencies and experience? Do you want your children to be educated in English, French, or both? What can you afford? I've always found that it helps to do this with one or more friends - they tend to fill in the questions I can't see or am afraid to confront <s>.

Take a look at what you want your future to look like and explore France a bit. It is an exceptional place to call home.
