Hi,

My partner and I are looking to take our 23 month old son to Australia on a 457 visa. We have no idea where to start! We keep going round and round in circles!

He has 10 years experience.

My guess is, first he needs to find a sponsor/employer? Anyone know of where to start looking for one of these and does he need to get his skills assessment done first? Any list of agents who take tradesmen from UK on this visa, etc?

Thank you so much, any help is much appreciated...!

Yup he needs to find an employer willing to offer him a job who is willing to sponsor him and meet the requirements to be an eligible sponsor. You wont find a list of employers. You'll have to look on the Australian job search sites and apply for jobs mentioning that you need sponsorship.

Although it is extremely difficult find sponsorship from the UK because if they are advertising a job it means they need someone not, not in 6 months+ when a visa is obtained! It is also hard for trades men to get sponsorship due to the nature of the work and the ability of the employers to meet the requirements to be a sponsor, such as paying for staff training, paying a set wage which tradies wouldn't normally get in the no work no money environment on sites etc.

Start here SEEK - Australia's no. 1 jobs, employment, career and recruitment site Good Luck.
