Hi All!
I have a friend who is planning a European tour, she is a musician. I'm hoping someone here might be able to advise the best course of action for her. She is stopping over in France but will be moving through other EU countries also. Should she apply for visas from each of the countries separately, or is there a provision of some kind for touring musicians. She is promoting her album and would play in very small venues as she did in the US.
Has anyone ever done that? Maybe the talents and competences visa? No visa at all, cash basis? Suggestions, please. Thanks in advance.

If she is going to be performing, I suspect she'll need a visa for each country she will be performing in. The "Schengen visa" is strictly a tourist visa, with no working privileges at all.
Cheers,
Bev

Yeah if she's getting paid...she's going to need visas for that. Maybe try contacting a Schengen visa admin to see if they have a suggestion first before looking into each country individually...? And does she have some kind of contract?

It is a good question though because I have a relative who's done one off shows in other countries with a real/legit group. there must be SOMEthing for that.

Okay I found this site, maybe you can get something from it...Taxation section... http://livemusicbusiness.com/artist-resources/advice-for-us-and-canadian-bands-touring-in-europe/

And then this was the link in the article, though it is dead if you click in there. I found the PDF. From 2007, so, not very recent and may be outdated. But it is detailed and might give you a good place to start.
