Hi there,
We applied on April and still waiting. when we phone callc enter they keep saying application was at "Marriage section".
Thank you.
Marriage section takes time because they have to verify/validate the marriage with your country of origin. Now it depends how quickly your country of origin responds. ID is quick if you are unmarried.

@jollem Hi
I've a PRP-related question if you can help. Do you know how long it takes between getting the call from DHA to verify/confirm 26(b) details and the outcome being finalized? Also, do you know if the call is part of the initial or final stage/steps of the process....?

It used to take over a year. But personally, I believe with the new minister and their current drive to get visas and permits out, I think it will be quick. My guess is by end of the year you will get it. I have seen a number of non-critical skills (dependents and spouse) PRPs coming out in the last 4 weeks.

Hi everyone,
I don't necessarily follow this side of the forum (yet), but I saw this in the news yesterday. Has anyone here who has been waiting for their IDs, received as the news suggests? I'm trying to ascertain if DHA meant "...backlog of ID application for SA citizens cleared...", or ALL applications in the system. 👇

I don't think they have cleared all the application, the numbers are vague. I had applied ID 3 months ago and it is still on fingerprints verification stage.
They don't have any SLA to finalise an application. You can't even track the application, so they can say whatever they want.

Ahh,ok. Thanks for sharing. I'm sending you nothing but positive vibes.
I hope that the pending ID is not affecting your life too negatively.

Here are the guidelines for others based on my experience.

Original and Certified copies are required during submission at Eldorado Park DHA.

PRP Original + Certified copy
PRP verification Original + Certified copy
Passport + Certified copy of front page (Bio)
Birth certificate + Certified copy
Marriage Certificate + Certified copy
Spouse Id/passport certified copy
Address proof (required is some office but not in Eldorado Park)

Processing time - 3months
No tracking system. Keep checking with DHA for collection on call.

Note: Lenasia office requires your spouse to be present. Probably the person’s personal requirement as he was very rude to foreigners.

However Eldorado Park doesn’t have any such requirement.

Office around Joburg
Eldorado Park
Lenasia
Orange Farm
Lenasia DHA did not ask my spouse to be present while applying for ID. I guess it depends on the type of your PR you hold. If you acquired it as a spouse of SA Citizen/PR holder, they may request it but for PR with critical skills they do not.

Hi bro,
I hope you've been well. Do you happen to have a DHA number that you used to call during your PR application? One that actually worked (not the 0800601190 because apparently, it doesn't).

I hold a critical skill PR. Still he was asking the spouse to come. He was trying to create problem. I went to other office with same set of document and was able to submit.

Yeah that guy has some strange behavior, but he knows me since he also helped me with my daughters birth certificates few years back, so it wasn't an issue for me

do we know what are the stages of an ID application and what is the timeline in average?
Hi @TheSoftwareGuy
My uninformed suspicion is that the minister's recent announcement about opening the Smart ID card issuance to PR and naturalized foreign nationals "in the near future" might have something to do with this. Other than that, what I have read on this forum is that 26(6) PR ID applications take a minimum of 3 months because of marriage certificates/status having to be verified back in the countries of origin. Other Categories have a much shorter timeline. Then again, there's the fact that not everyone has the same experience...
Do you mind sharing if this delay has been affecting your life negatively, since receiving your PR?

Good day guys,

I collected my wife's ID today from DHA, and it took around 5 months to process.

I have a quick question: my wife got her PRP under spousal and on the SA ID book my surname is printed instead of my wife's surname?

Is DHA going to put husband's surname on the ID book, as on PR she got her own surname ?

Can you please someone kindly advise?

Thanks
