Hi,

I am really thankful to all the People in this forum for their help. I was granted a 176 VISA with all your help.

My sister is currently in Australia and with her help, I was able to acquire an offer with a Major Indian Firm in Aussie.

The offer is for about 5000$ per month in hand. I just wanted to check with you guys the kind of Living standards in place in Melbourne.

The offer that has been rolled out to me is a Contractual Offer good for 2 years, or about 5000AUD within which I would need to support my Wife and my 3.5 month old kid.

Thanks,
Aditya.

$5000AUD a month in your hand will be enough for you and your family to live off, but you wont be rich.

You should allow about $1600-2000 a month for accommodation.
This will get you something small near to the CBD or something a bit bigger further out.
Pick something out West if you can, as you get a lot more for your money.

A decent second-hand car will cost you about $8,000-$12,000.
Allow $200 a week for food and other groceries, if you cook at home a lot.
Health care (unless provided by your employer) will be upwards of $500 a month.
Utilities are another $200-300 a month, not including internet.
