Good place to go out on a Tuesday night

Having just arrived in Dubai I have absolutely no idea what the clubbing scene here is like. Not that I'm too into clubbing back home but a friend of mine is going to be here only for tonight and we decided to catch up and have a good night out.

Anyone recommend any places where we could go out and experience the supposed extravagant or over-the-top clubbing scene of Dubai. Any tips would be appreciated.

Ladies' night at the Westin is a good place to start.

I went to Barasti last night. It was very cold. My teeth chipped the pint glass a few times. I won't recommend it. The cold that it is.
