Thought I'd start a new thread for a new question. I don't know if I'm not using the search function properly (entirely possible!) or if there hasn't been a thread about this. Is it okay to enter Australia on a tourist visa and then apply for PR visa? My wife is Australian and wants to move back as soon as she can and the tourist visa seemed faster to get.

I believe you can do this, then apply for an onshore spouse visa. Please contact an Immigration agent for a consulation before you do this in case you have to inform Immi in any way.

This is the link for onshore spouse visa.

Partner Visa: Onshore Temporary and Permanent (Subclasses 820 and 801)
