Dear All,

I want to apply for immigration of Australia. By profession I'm a Geologist with more than 10 years work experience.

Could you please let me know that:

1. which class either 189 and/or 190 would be better against my background. If there is any other category, please let me know.

2. do I need "positive skill assessment" from a authority, if so share the name.

3. should I apply for "state sponsorship" or can I apply without it?

I will be very grateful for your help!

Thanks.

Hi,

1- your occupation is not on MLTSSL, so you can't apply for SC189.

2- Yes. Assessing authority is "VETASSESS"

3- your occupation is on STSOL, but you can apply only for Tasmania as it is currently the only state requires geologists.

Please note that Tasmania will offer you SC489 instead of SC190 unless if you have a job offer, family in Tasmania, or if you are a Tasmania graduate.

There more requirements by Tasmania such as proficient English. For more details, check the below link.

Hi,
Thanks for replying. If I can't apply as geologist (except Tasmania) then can I apply as petroleum engineer (withe same work experience)? I have masters in this petroleum engineering. If so, which class/subclass should I lodge application 189, 190 or ? DO I still need assessment and how long would it take?
Many thanks!

You are welcome.

Petroleum engineering is not on MLTSSL nor STSOL, and therefore, you cannot apply for immigration to Australia using this occupation.
