Hello fellow expats
I'm hoping there's some experience here that will help me with the following problem. Likely those of you from the UK or Ireland will have most experience of this.

I'm trying to get my head around the options for travelling from Nancy to Dublin, a journey which I hope to make every 5-6 weeks or so, for the weekends. Problem is that going via Paris is both time-consuming and/or very expensive, when trains and flights are taken into account. I've just booked my first visit home and will end up spending the night in the airport as I will have missed the last train back to Nancy.

So, just wondering if anyone out there has any advice, before I start looking at the myriad of other flight/rail options that are available. I could potentially fly to London and take Ryanair from there to Dublin.

Thanks for the help folks:confused2:

Haven't looked into it, but have you tried heading north? I think there are probably more flights direct to Dublin from either Brussels (Charleroi) or Amsterdam if you can make the train connections to get there. Plus, just about any airport is better than the Paris airports when dealing with shorter flights like that.
Cheers,
Bev

yes, thanks Bev, those are on my list of travel options. I'm becoming quite knowledgeable at French travel (on paper at least)

Also, how about Cork-Paris? Aer Lingus has flights to CDG that arrive at sensible times.
Still a big drive then from Cork to Kildare, plus Aer Lingus flights can be very expensive.
I've been spoiled living in the UK. I could go door to door in less than 4 hours and for a total cost of less than 100 euro.

Culture and purse shock moving to France:eek:

Though could be an awful lot worse:)
