Hello,

I'm new to this and apologize if this has already been asked. I am in the process of applying for my fiance visa and moving to the UK from the USA. We plan on getting married in a civil ceremony as soon as possible after I arrive. From what I understand, once we are married, I can apply for FLR(M) on the 5 year route.

My question is, when am I able to legally work? Is it after we are married? Or after applying for the FLR(M)? Or do I have to wait for the FLR(M) Visa to be granted.

Thank you all so much for any help you can give!

Mike

I thought it was for 2.5 years only? Anyway, I don't think you can work till after you have received your BRP. On your BRP it will state that you are permitted to work.

It's called the five year route because that's how long is required before you are eligible to apply for settlement, each visa only last 2.5 years - bit of a cheek really.
