Hi Guys,

Could you please advise if anyone bought a car without a local SA Drivers License and finance it with SA ID?

Here is the situation:
Approached a bank with SA ID for finance and they are asking for SA Driver's License.

Car dealership is okay to work with foreign license

Insurance has given 6 month time to convert to SA License and issued the policy.

if you have PRP you are meant to switch/apply for SA License , My insurer was very specific about this ,RSA Residents ( PRP Holders and SA Citizens) should have a local license

I'm a PRP holder.
- Car dealerships did offer car finance (VolksWagen). They accepted my license (SADC region agreement).
- Car insurance does cover me (Naked Insurance). Be careful though, watch closely your foreign license validity period. They might show you the finger if you try claim while your license is expired...
(And, of course, License had to be valid at the time of application for both VW and Naked Insurance)
