Hello,
Has anyone had any experience of exporting household goods to the uk to resell as I am thinking of setting up a small business to do this and wondered if the paperwork and taxes make it worthwhile.
Any help is appreciated,
Thanks,
John

If you're exporting from France to the UK, your trade should fall under the EU rules and thus wouldn't be all that much worse than any "normal" French business. VAT gets a little tricky, depending on how you're set up (i.e. UK subsidiary vs. simply selling to UK resellers) but nothing insurmountable.

Depending on the volumes you're thinking of doing, you might even qualify as an AE to start with. (Your gross revenues would have to be less than the VAT threshold of about 80K € for a business involving sales of merchandise.)
Cheers,
Bev

Thanks Bev,
Thats very helpful and i could not see me ever getting to 80k as i only want to do this to work with a friend in the uk to top up our early retirement pensions.Thats why I would only do this if its going to be easy and relativly hassle free with paperwork and tax claims.
Who knows this time next year we may all be Millionaires as someone once said,:eyebrows:
