Hello everyone, my wife, our 1 year old and myself (all Irish) are considering a move from Paris to Bordeaux. 3 days of télétravail makes it feasible. We love the city but we don't know anyone. We're wondering if there are active expat groups/easy ways to meet other young families? Thanks a lot

There is an organization called Bordeaux Accueille that appears to be something like the AVF for the Bordeaux area. These associations are made up of volunteers who work to welcome newcomers to the area. You can google Bordeaux Accueille though it appears their website is still a work in process.

Only caveat here is that between the pandemic and the approaching summer holidays, most volunteer associations are either already shut down for the summer or in process of doing so. France can be pretty dead from the end of June until the end of August. But come La Rentrée in September, all the various associations usually start recruiting new members. Jumping into these kinds of groups is usually the best way to meet people and to find out what's going on in the area. But obviously these groups have taken a real hit this past year with all the various restrictions.

Thank you. We won't arrive in Bordeaux until October so it should be good timing.
