I work for a Canadian company with an office in Dubai. They want me to work there for two years but the offer may be based on maintaining Canadian status (taxes) and coming and going between Canada, Dubai, and probably India over that period. If all of my expenses are met are there any real disadvantages over expat status except the main one, tax reduction?

Thanks.

Maybe just the ease of entry possibly. But I'm not sure what citizens of Canada have to do for entry. If you do multiple entries without documentation a flag could be raised as to what you are doing in the country exactly. I know companies try to avoid this in Korea with guys going out every 90 days to Japan for a weekend only to have customs stop the guys after multiple entries and then not allow them entry. The main thing will be how long your stays in Dubai will be.
