Hi,

I submitted my EOI on 3rd Sept and was awarded 0 points for my Work Exp. I have completed more than 9 years of work experience, so even after deducting the 6 years (I am a non ICT major), I should have smoothly made the 3 year cut. I am sharing my details below and seeking valuable inputs from other EF members on my case.

Job Code: 262112 - Security Specialist

About my work Exp. (All my work exp. has been related to 262112)
Company 1:
27 Jun 2005 to 02 Jun 2007
Gap: 6 working days
Company 2:
12 Jun 2007 - 26 Apr 2013
Gap 5 working days
Company 3:
06 May 2013 - Presently working

ACS assessment:
The following employment after August 2011 is considered to equate to work at an appropriately skilled level and relevant to 262112 (ICT Security Specialist) of the ANZSCO Code.

After receiving ACS assessment, I was not sure whether Aug2011 meant 1st Aug or 31st Aug so I waited till Sept 1st to submit my EOI in order to complete 3 years of relevant work experience and gain 5 points. However, that didn't work as I got 0 points for work exp.

Does anybody know, how points are awarded for work experience?
1. My logic says to wait for 11 more working days (till 15th Sept 2014) to compensate for the time I was not employed between switching jobs. If this indeed is the case then not much of a trouble for me, just another 2 weeks of waiting time more.
2. Anything else I can do (contact DIAC?).
3. Has anybody faced a similar situation earlier?

Appreciate all your inputs here and I hope others are also able to benefit out this discussion.

Thanks,
MJ

happened when i entered as well..was due to the gap between the 2 companies.
should be fine if u wait for the said number of days
to ensure this, u can just try putting experience from 20th august as valid instead of sep1st as valid( dont submit this, just a test)...this should give u 5 points for work ex..if it does then, nothing to worry, wait for 6 days and u shud be fine..

Hi,

Waiting has paid off. Just checked the skillselect site. My work exp has been updated with 5 points. Time to get started with Vic SS.

Thanks kingcantona7 for your response.
