I seemed to have got in trouble yesterday with some moderator on this site and am disappointed only because all I want to do is talk to expats in bordeaux about the viability of English Language theatre and drama training as something people might welcome there when I move? How can I research this among expats without it coming off as 'advertising'?
Which is not my intention- i am not interested in advertising anything, I just want feedback from those who live and work in bordeaux already.

Now, is this post ok or does it break any forum rules? Hope not. I dont really see the point of a forum for expats moving country to work if you cant talk about moving country and your work.

Merci

Hello

Welcome to the forum. We are an argumentative lot, with a wide variety of experience and opinions.

I did not see your original post, but let me explain, as a non moderator, how I see the moderation here.

Our Dear Bev is the usual duty mod around here, and her slaps around the head can hurt, so be careful! We do have fairly strict moderation here, and sometimes it may seem a little heavy. However, the alternative is a rapid slide in to spam, pornography, non relevant marketing, and general chaos. For me, I welcome the "protection" to be found in this forum, and some real friendships have developed in the corner of cyberspace. I'm sorry if you seem to have fallen foul of the rules on your first post!

Can't help with your theatre question, but there must be lots of readers here in your part of the world.

.....Irwin??????.....I remember going to school in Hampshire in the mid 1950s with 2 Irwin brothers....any connection?

Let me ask you to take a look at the Forum Rules (click on the menu at the top of the page), particularly rules 5 and 10.

There is no problem with a discussion of the idea of a theater group activity for expats, but if the post seems to be soliciting participants, especially on a first post to the forum, it is considered to be advertising.
Once you have a few posts on the boards, you can send and receive PMs (private messages) to contact people who might be interested in taking part locally.
Cheers,
Bev
