Hello All

There is slight confusion on which number should I provide on 176 visa for my online application.

1.Normally we have a switchboard number (reception) and our direct line. On the telephone number on the visa176 application (and other places), should I give our direct contact number or the main reception number.
Or will DIAC call on the number which is given in employer reference letter?

I was thinking of adding a document which states different numbers including reception, HR, my supervisor. Will that be OK?

2.Does DIAC call spouse on mobile or home number as they state. Anyone got this call ?

Thanks for your suggestion.

For job verification, if conducted, DIAC will call the person who signed the reference letter on the number that they provided. It is better to always provide a direct line - it's stressful as it is to go through job verification without having to deal with the possibility of the call being transferred to the wrong person or department.

You may provide different numbers if you so wish, as long as you are clear who these numbers belong to.

I can't help with your second query but I would imagine that the choice of which number they use is really up to the CO. Most of the time, verification is done by the local consulate in your country of residence.

Do they really call or they have outsourced the background verification work?

I believe these works are outsourced in respective countries and these companies know how to reach out or conduct background verification. The way big companies in India do background verification. Their HR department don't conduct background verification.

The security checks are outsourced but that's different to job verification.

Job verification are normally carried out the Australian Consulate in your country of residence. There are actually quite a few posts about this on the forum - if you do a search, a few people have recounted their experience.

There is no guarantee that you will go through job verification or not. It's normally conducted if the CO has certain doubts about the information provided.
