When I got my initial carte de séjour I was unemployed. This card just expired a few weeks ago and during this time I was offered (and accepted) a job. My renewal appointment is coming up soon and I am wondering if my employment status will change my renewal process at all. My first card was in the category of 'family member of an EU citizen.' So will I have to apply for a new kind of CDS or am I just renewing the previous one?

It should be just a matter of renewing the old carte de séjour. As the family member of an EU citizen, you have all the same rights as the EU citizen in the family - which includes the right to work (or not) in France.

What you will need, though, is an indication of your relationship to the EU citizen in the family and proof that their statut is still the same as what it was when you initially got the card.
Cheers,
Bev
