After lodging your documents, did your employers get a call for verification? Pls do share your experiences...

are the employers supposed to confirm the duties EXACTLY as per the employment letter?

and were you issued employment letter including the duties performed??

i had lot of issues with this.

I don't think my employer was called up. I worked for a big company which has an office in Australia as well so probably thats why they did not fret much over it.

But there are many cases where the employer was called up.

My employer did not give a detailed letter with the duties and technologies I am working on. I got a service letter stating designation and date of joining.

Then I got a statutory declaration from my manager which had everything in detail. It worked fine.

Although i haven't applied through agent, i discussed it extensively with one (very experienced), and his explanation was employment verification depends on couple of factors:

- your nationality
- which country your work experience is from (e.g if u worked in USA less likely to get a call)
- Which company you work, example if you worked/work for the big guys IBM,HP,FUJITSU,DELL, etc its less likely you get a call.
- Your documents proving your work. More documents + evidence = less chance of job verification. Fishy looking documents can also raise flags.

Rate of verification is about 10% based on what he told me, this is an agent who receives 1000's of Oz applications so he has an idea. So the chances of job verification is approx 10%. Ofcourse that increases if you are from certain countries.

Either way, always EXPECT a job verification no matter what. Means make sure your references are aware they are getting a call and they are willing to cooperate. Unfortunately for many (myself included) it might be v difficult to arrange that, but all you can do is your best.

Hii,

They did not call my current employer. They had called one of the previous employer ( 2006-2009). I was not aware of it. I came to know only Last week.
It seems they just asked whether the reference letter submitted by me was indeed given by the Company.. May be because that reference letter was very detailed almost 2 pages detailing all the clients I had worked and every thing.. ( my Guess)...

Regards
RK

I saw a post from another forum wherein the company was called up to confirm if Mr X was indeed an employee of the said firm; furthermore the signatory of the COE was asked to verify if the COE was indeed original. A copy of the COE was faxed over to the said signatory.

If everything was done correctly and in good faith, this should never be a problem I guess...
