I lived for 8 years in the UK on a variety of visas (voluntary, student, post-study, etc.), the final one being a 5-year residence card (ie, stamp in my passport) as a family member of an EEA citizen (my wife is Polish). In 2016 I moved with my wife and our child to Poland and continued working for my UK employer remotely. My UK residence card expired in February (I have a Polish residence card that allows me to live and work here). Now we are considering moving back to the UK. How would we go about this? Do I need to obtain new UK residence documentation before we enter the UK? My wife is not working, but would search for work once we return to the UK. My job is UK-based, although I currently work remotely. It's a slightly complex situation.

Thanks!

Just apply for EEA family permit in Poland. Then after entering UK, and after your wife starts a job, apply for residence card. While you can apply when she is a jobseeker, it's more straightforward to do so after she starts working.
