I was middle management, sometimes department head for 15/20 years and when Covid hit I retired, I had plenty of work offers/contracts and could return to Australia, some other countries but I couldn't return to my home in the Philippines/the better half and our life here.
I simply retired as I had been threatening to do for years and while not looking back was receiving 10 to 20 emails a weeks, one or 2 phone calls weekly from my English and German bosses (how do we do this etc.) and in the end it wore thin and eventually told them to put me back on the payroll as a consultant as I was spending hours every week answering foolish questions,,,,,,, It all stopped and I live happily ever after.
I see the tripe going on with sackings/displacements in one country and wonder who is going to keep the wheels oiled, sad yes.
Funny today renewing my visitor visa at the end of the process the lovely lady handing me back my paperwork and passport proudly showed me the new sticker in my passport,,,,,,, about time I replied, thanked her and left. My last sticker from immi in my passport was 5 and a half years ago, mismanagement yes and no different to number plates and a plethora of ineptitude from those that are supposed to be running any country, eventually the wheels fall off.
