It's just the name of the 'festival', similar things have ran in Glasgow, Liverpool, Manchester for years. I actually think the people putting it on in the past in the UK have a hand in this one.
It's not a new venue as one of the purpose of Sound City is to highlight the city's existing venues at once, promote local scenes etc. Normally as well as big headliners there are seminars on the music business, local band nights etc.
And yes, can't wait, certainly something a lot better than Shakira or George bl*ody Michael.
