Hello everyone,
I will be moving to Dubai by the end of May to work for a multinational company... I have already received my employment visa. I heard that until your residence and work permit is issued you are not allowed to leave the country without the permission of your sponsor. Is this true? Would this be valid once you have your permanent permits to live and work in the country? I am considering to do a lot of travelling in the region and would like to go home for some weekends. So I would really appreciate if you could help.

Allison, I guess you always need to inform your employer/manager when you travel, lest you should be reported as absconding.

But other than that, I think you are free to travel, once your visa is stamped on your passport.

You don't need permission. Unless you agreed in some terms with your company or manager before taking employment.

Yes, You are free to move. But if you are travelling via Road, it is also advisable to carry your passport and ID card. Even if you are going to nearby places like Hatta, etc. Without these you would not be provided the entry. So take Care.

if all your necessary documents/papers are all finished processing i guess the first thing you will have to do if you want to travel outside Dubai is just ask permission and tell your boss. if he/she agrees, that wouldnt be a problem.
