Dual nationality tourist visa

Hi guys! :help::help::confused:

I am attempting to relocate to Dubai and my wife will come as sponsored person once I get a job. I am an IT project manager with lots of experience etc so stand a good chance.

I have all the documents attested today at UAE embassy in London, ready for work. My wife and I are due to fly in this weekend to stay with friends who live and work there, and we will be on standard tourist visa for the 30-40 days. I will be looking to meet local IT recruiters and seek a job.

My question is.... say we stay for maximum 40 days in UAE, then leave to Oman and stay for a few days, can we come back into UAE again for another 40 days or would we need to stay out of the country for 30 days before coming back?

Both my wife and I are dual nationals. I am British and Irish and she is British and Polish so we have two passports each. Is there anything stopping us from just leaving UAE after 40 days on our British passports into Oman and then the next day entering UAE as different nationals and clock starts for those on 40 days...

I am assuming this is fine as we are essentially "different people".

Any thoughts?

Hi,
Welcome to the forum.
Firstly - don’t mess about using different passports - this really messes up the biometric database and risks you being denied a work visa, once you get a job.
Just use your British passports. Under current rules - you can do as many visa runs as you want, until you secure a job and get sponsored.
I don’t share your optimism in getting a job easily - for three reasons.
Firstly, you are up against loads of IT professionals from Asia who are well qualified and much cheaper to hire than you!
Secondly - recruiters don’t work the same here as the UK. It will be hard to find one that will fight your corner.
Thirdly - the market is small here. Dubai is not a big place, so not really that many jobs to go round.
Also remember that most advertised jobs will get hundreds (sometimes thousands!) of applicants - so it is going to be pot luck whether you get shortlisted for an interview.
The best job opportunities come from networking - not job adverts.
Best of luck!
Cheers
Steve

I’d echo what Steve says about messing around with your passports. Because of biometrics you are certainly not two people. I know of someone very recently came unstuck doing something similar and ended up with a 6 hour wait with immigration at DXB sorting it all out.

I would also add to not get your hopes up too high on the job front. If you are starting from scratch you may struggle unless you have something particularly desirable about your experience that sits you above anyone else. I’m not being negative just realistic. Either way good luck !

You can't mess with passports going in and out. Use your British passports, as your wife's Polish one is Schengen and they can only stay for 90 days, then they have to leave for 90 days - so I wouldn't even show that one.

Secondly IT is one of those weird industries here - you'll be competing against thousands of guys from the subcontinent - who will work for peanuts.

Also, Ramadan is rapidly approaching and then we have the summer. Historically recruitment will slow right down. The busiest times of year are Jan/Feb/Mar and then towards the end of the year. As the OP have said the IT world is dominated by Asian nationals however there are many Western guys/girls working as Managers. You will need to network like crazy, try and contact recruiters who specialise in IT and not get too frustrated if they do not contact you. Recruiters in the UAE work directly for clients so in order to contact you they have to have a suitable role

When you do Oman visa runs you do not have to stay in Oman, you can literally go around the visa center and come back into the UAE

Good Luck
