Hi all,
New forum member, i'll be posting more no doubt in the next few months.

I'm a dual AU/US citizen who is returning to live in Sydney after 9 years in San Francisco.

I was flabbergasted to read that the US IRS will tax foreign wages for US Citizens, even for permanent moves overseas.

Are their any other dual citizens who have dealt with this? Curious if being a AU citizen, i'd be exempt from having to declare my AU taxed wages to the US Gov't?

Thanks,
Patrick.

You have to file a U.S. tax return. You may or may not have to pay taxes in the U.S. There is a foreign income exclusion which I think is $90,000 U.S. Your other citizenship makes no difference. If you have any further questions it would probably be better to post on the Tax Forum.
