Hi All,
I have applied for GSM 175 visa ( C,C++ specialist). And I found this forum very helpful. But I have few doubts if any one can clear it would be a great help.

I applied for PR on 26 Nov 2009 and on 9th Feb I recived a mail from CO asking for the medicals and PCC.
I have done with my medicals and got the police clearance certificates.

Now the doubt I have is Do I need to send the original Police Clearance Certificate or just scan and upload the scanned copy?

Also incase I need to send the original PCC can someone tell me the address.

For your information, below is excerpt from the mail I got from CO.

" Character requirement
● Police clearance certificate for each applicant aged 16 years or over from every country
where you have lived for a total of at least 12 months in the last 10 years. Please refer to
the enclosed form Character requirements penal clearance certificates for further instructions.
You must provide the original certificates.

For information on obtaining police clearances please refer to the Character Requirements Penal
Clearance Certificates (formerly known as Form 47P)

Thanks guyz!!

For any one who has doubts on how to get PCC in India, here is the process :
1. One needs to go to the Regional Passport office and fill in the form2 ( misce. service). ( Carry one photograph with you.)
2. If there is a valid visa on you passport( the visa which is still not expired) you will get the pcc on the same day. ( you need to mention about the valid visa on the top of the form 2 and sumit the photocopy of the visa page along with the first and last page of the passport.)
3. if there is no valid visa , submit the application and it will take 15-20 days for police verification and for you to get the PCC.

Hi Adit,

1)Which passport office did you apply for PCC?
2) Is your current address same as the one on your passport too?
If the two addresses are different, I think it will take around 45 days for PCC.

Cheers,
Subbaram.

Thanks guyz!!

Hi Subbaram,
I applied in the Chandigarh office?
No my current address is not same as the one on passport, but i didn't mention this and wrote the same address.
The key thing is if you have a valid visa , they will not ask you for a single question and you will get the PCC on the same day.

Hi Adit,

Thanks for your response.
My case was different, my passport was issued in AndhraPradesh, and since I currently live in Bangalore, had applied for PCC from Bangalore Passport office.
It has been 3 weeks now, no progress yet :(

Hi,

It is a valid visa from any country, any type(business/workpermit/PR,etc.) and not just an Australian Visa.

Cheers
