Hi All,

I'm travelling over to Dubai with my partner who is starting work. I am likely to get offered a role within the first couple of weeks however i wanted to find out whether i will encounter any problems at the airport if i only have a one-way ticket when i arrive?

Any help or advice would be really appreciated

Thanks

If you are on a UK passport, then no need - although having a return ticket to the UK may save you money in the long term, since air tickets from Dubai to the UK are generally much cheaper than the other way around.

(e.g. Emirates from Dubai-Glasgow return in May is AED4200 (around GBP700), whereas Glasgow-Dubai return on the same dates is less than GBP500)

Shop around though: from UK to Dubai you can fly on the obvious ones like Emirates or BA, or others such as Air France, KLM or Virgin Atlantic - each of whom have regular deals.

Technically you should have a return flight, but you might not get any bother not having it. That said, I recently bought flights out and it was about £1k cheaper to get a return than a single for the same flights/airline etc etc! I'd just buy a return and forget about the return portion of the ticket.

You don't need a return but as others have mentioned it works out alot cheaper to get your returns from the UK than from Dubai. Emirates charge £75 to change the return date.

thanks so much for all the advice - i was just worried about immigration thinking i wasn't returning home - which i'm not but i don't plan on letting my 30 days run out without renewing or having a residency visa process in place
