We are currently renewing our titre de sejour for the first time, that is our second calendar year of living in France although we only arrived in April last year.

The list we have received from the Prefecture of Police says we have to provide "Dernier avis d'imposition". As I said we only arrived April last year and we are here on long stay "visiteur" visas and are not permitted to work; so we don't earn income and have not been in France long enough to submit a tax return. We live on life-savings and earn no income in our home country so we do not have to submit a tax return for last year in Australia. We do not have a tax return so what should we do to tick this item off the Prefecture’s list? :confused2:

Basically, you mark this item as "néant" (not applicable). You may want to include a note stating simply that you arrived in France in April, 2011 and thus have no "avis d'imposition." Even if you were supposed to file, you wouldn't have the avis d'imposition until August of this year. Heck, the forms haven't come out yet for declaring 2011!
Cheers,
Bev
