In Australia everyone in employment is taxed at source. You still need to file a tax return as you'll (usually) get heaps of money back. A lot is tax deductible in Australia and results in you reserving a refund from the tax office. From donations to charities to work related expenses (phone etc)
You'll have seen on the other thread you'll be taxed at source unless self employed but you also fill in a tax return every year too. Quite beneficial for most if you have work or study expenses, best get an accountant to do it at very least the first time as they know all the info re what you can claim.
