Hi there

My wife and I have received our ancestral visas and will be arriving in the UK on 2 August.

I see a lot of people mentioning a BRP card and the information pertaining to the collection of it on a decision letter.

I have checked through the passport return bag we received from the British consulate in South Africa, but do not find any such letter, nor any info regarding the BRP.

Do we need to get these cards? Where would we get them? And what would we need to take with us?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Thanks I did read the sticky, but am still confused.

My visa in my passport says valid from 1 August 2015 - 2020. Does this mean I don't need a BRP? Or is there a different process.

We received our visas a few months ago, so I don't think the new rules were in place,

I am sorry, but I still do not understand what you are saying.

I never received a decision letter explaining anything regarding a BRP.

Do I need to go to the post office closest to my address in the UK to get one?

Obviously you didn't read the sticky. Read the sticky and both links within the sticky. Your questions are answered in the sticky.

If you applied before the rollout date of the BRP for your country then your visa is in your passport.
