Hey guys, I am on a spouse visa with a British husband who is serving the armed forces.

The armed forces is giving us a family accommodation and we will be exempted from paying council tax as my husband is a civil servant. The rent would be deducted from his wages, and the armed forces would give him an employee benefit by paying him extra each month to offset the rent.

I would like to know, if in this case, am I claiming public funds too by living with him? The tenancy agreement is under his name. As far as I know, he's allowed to claim his own benefits but not for me. Thank you!

No, don't worry about it. Your husband is allowed to receive many things which you can't, and provided he declares you are subject to immigration control with no recourse to public funds (where asked), you are in the clear.

Hi Joppa,

We were asked by the housing agency my BRP. I suppose that means we have declared my immigration status since we got offered our new house. Thank you for your help!
