Having been given the opportunity to move to Australia (Sydney) I was wondering how much should a family of 5, consisting of elderly parents and a young child of 11, be spending in a monh. Specially if the elderly parents are on mdeication and hey would not be permanent resident in australia.

Hi, It's so hard to say what a family would spend a month because everyone spends differently. The most significant cost will be housing - I assume you'll be renting so that cost will depend where you're working and how far away from work you want to be, the size of the property etc.

I recently did some calculations and I feel a family needs a household income of about $AUD120,000 to survive in Sydney. Included in that I calculated running a car, a few extracurricular activities for children etc. I'm sure many families manage on less but probably live further away from work and rely on public transport. This figure includes health insurance for the immediate family but I think the cost of your parents health requirements could be a lot.
All the best with your plans.
Many thanks. Shussel!
Your analysis is extremely helpful, and assumption about my parents Medicare is certainly going to be high. I am thinking of living in the suburbs not in city (I suppose no one lives in city) how far have you considered the living arrangements for your calculations?

I would be in downtown Sydney.

A. I would transfer with the job.
B. We are 4 siblings 2 of them are in Australia one of them on CAT immigration.
C. Father has been operated for brain tumor (so not independent) therefore he is dependent on me. Being from a non-welfare country I see that they would be legible.

If they are not able to cone with me on PR then can they be able to visit, for what duration.

Thanks, for this piece of info I will see if I could get someone to talk to on this subject. I will reach out to people in Sydney and get their input on legal representation.
