I know they say 12 weeks of waiting time for spouse visa.

I would like to find out if there is anything wrong in sending e mails every 2 weeks enquiring about the progress.

Don't email them. Just wait until you hear from them. If every applicant contacted them every two weeks they wouldn't have time to process the applications!
