Me and my 13 year old daughter are thinking about moving to Dubai. She's been pressuring me for months, most of my family live in Dubai so I loved the thought but I had to think about her education, as that is the reason we came to the UK. I've heard a lot of good things about home-schooling. I've searched for British Schools, but the fee's are to high, and was wondering if I can get any information on home-schooling, as much as i can get.(By the way I don't mean for me to home school her, i need a home schooler)
Example:
The procedure i have to go through.
The curriculum.
The prices. etc etc
I would be so thankful if you could answer these questions and more!!!
Home schooling is recognized by Abu Dhabi and only American Schooling is accepted as far as i know.....
Please contact them directly and it is going to be the most expensive schooling you can think off...
I do not think so dubai even accepts home schooling....
Abu dhabi has a growing shortage of 60, 000 seats in school but dubai has a adjustable shortage...
Home schooling is done here. You can do it yourself or you can join an online school that has a set curriculum.
I have a pakistani friend who was offered peanuts to teach (because of her passport) even though she has years of teaching in hong kong to expats from all over. She is now tutoring a number of homeschooled students who come to her home once or twice a week. Finding similar teachers in this situation is not hard to do and would help you in home schooling tremendously. I guesstimate her salary at around 1200 to 1500 a month for tutoring each student twice a week.
nice to hear home schooling is approved in dubai as well...
what board (syllabus)/ subject is she teaching????
Passport has not much to do with teachers salary its more about the subject/ origin of Degrees/ qualification one has...
i am saying so because i have a offer in hand and that is not so bad (competitive enough in Gems group)...
Apart from this, even i teach sometime 2 times a week but i do charge a little more ... i only teach Grade 10 onwards....
Not to get into a pissing match at all... isnt meant that way and feel like this is going to go that way. I am just saying due to the nature of uae, many very qualified teachers from other nationalities are able to assist in home schooling because they are not offered well paying jobs and will be available for tutoring.
In response to your questions, UK school educated, university in uk. Nothing to do with her education, only to do with her passport and her accent. She has 11+ years teaching in hong kong.
I would love to see the responses of the jumeirah janes when they walk in their young adults classroom at gems and find a pakistani person for their 80k dir a year they are paying at higher levels. I find it wonderful that you were given a postition though Is a sign of times changing and maybe a bit more diversity ??? Wonderful.

That is a horrible salary that no educated person should be forced to try and live off of. She makes double that by just tutoring a few kids consistently in a month.
