Complexities of completing the modelo 720

Thats rubbish, maybe for an OAP where there is no saved sum and that's counted as income anyway. But if you have any pot of money over €50,000 YOU MUST declare it.

Dont know what person in which bar told you that but its wrong.

When I went to do my 720 (three years ago) the accountant already had the details of my private pension pot including the fund total from the Spanish Hacienda. All I did was confirm this and it went on the 720.
The first mistake you made in your assumption laden post was to believe that "the accountant" is always correct.
Once you´ve been in Spain long enough, and asked around, you´ll find that the quality is often lacking in their service and knowledge.
The answer is actually the exact reverse of what you erroneously state - no declaration is needed for someone not drawing down, but a declaration is needed if you are an OAP (i.e. drawing down).

The answer is within these FAQs from the official Hacienda website:

Within these FAQs is the following question:
ÂżExiste obligaciĂłn de declarar los planes de pensiones contratados en el extranjero?
The answer clearly states you don´t have to declare it if you are not drawing down.
"No existe obligaciĂłn de informaciĂłn sobre los planes de pensiones (de las aportaciones a los mismos) en tanto no se produzca la incidencia que da lugar al cobro de la pensiĂłn en modo de renta temporal o vitalicia."

But that isn't what you said in your first post (post #15 above) - in which you simply stated that pension funds do not have to be declared.
Unclear what your point is here.

I made a true statement and a poster claimed my statement is untrue and that my source of information is dubious, and then added a new piece of information which was wrong.

So I then posted a second time, in more detail, to demonstrate that he/she was wrong (about everything), so that anyone reading this thread is not misled by bad information.
The extra detail was only required the second time because of a low quality response to my initial post.
