An elderly friend now living in UK is trying to get a "retraite de réversion", i.e. she wants to get a widow's portion of her husband's French pension. She has been to the DWP as they are supposed to be responsible for UK resident's pensions from overseas. They say they have been in contact with CNAV, but she has heard nothing in 9 months. She has made an application to CNAV and sent the required documents without result. Her case is slightly peculiar as she was born in East Africa which is no longer a sovereign state so a new birth cert is not possible. She has the name of her Belgian-born husband's employer, he was part of a family business in France and UK. He died in UK in 2016.
Does anyone have a contact person or telephone number to help sort it out

Was her husband receiving a French pension before his death? If he was, then someone somewhere must have notified CNAV of his death in order to stop his pension payments. That might provide a lead as to where your friend needs to turn now.
Cheers,
Bev
