Apparently you need to post 5 times before being able to send a pm. So maybe we have to send a few posts first and then we can message.
So Gareth and I have been in Christchurch since May. He is architectural technician and I am a teacher.
You?

so my husband is still on the search for a job in construction (site management) we are researching places to move to and rent for a while?
we want to be near Christchurch area as I assume that's where all the work will be mostly..
we have 3 children 8,6, and 3 and would like an area which would have nice schools and play areas etc
im a qualified nursery nurse so hoping to be able to get work in that area too

any advice would be much appreciated im concerned wages wont be enough to cover the £1000 monthly rent (one of modern ones with updated kitchen and bathroom)

Hi, I have lived in NZ for 4 and a half years, most of it in Christchurch but 1 year of it in Hamilton, North Island. I have found it relatively difficult meeting friends in Christchurch, the ones I have met have either returned to the UK or moved to other parts of NZ. I have friends in Hamilton but they are a flight away so I dont get to see them too often.
I would be very keen on meeting people for a coffee or preferably a beer sometime. I am originally from the UK and all my family are still over there, I am with a Kiwi guy which is great but I would like to meet some of my own friends in Christchurch.

Hi Julie,

My husband and I have just moved to Christchurch from Edinburgh. We have managed to meet some folk but are keen to meet more! We have found good coffee shops and some good pubs, so would be pleased to meet up for beer or coffee if you fancy it. Let me know if you do and I'll send a PM.

Hi, we're English, moved to Pegasus nr Christchurch in October. I am not working at the min, kids are all at full time school, hubby is working, I am finding it so hard to meet people. The boredom is about killing me. Not sure why, but there doesn't seem to be any atmosphere at all here?? I'm 37, my husband is 41, got 3 boys aged 12, 11 and 5. We are all easy going. Kids love rugby and football. If anyone is in the same situation, wants to meet up for coffee or a chat, please get in touch :)

Hi Julie and Chris,

Our family have just moved to Pegasus nr ChCh in Oct. I am not working at the min, hubby is working and kids are all at full time school. I am having real trouble meeting people out here and making new friends. I am 37, my husband is 41, my kids (all boys) are 12, 11 and 5. I would love to meet up for a coffee or something if either of you fancy it. Get in touch if you do :)

Hi Rachel, coincidence- we live in Merivale too, and my partner is also from the north east of England. Merivale is a really nice area, you will love it, keep in touch?

Hi Rachel,

I moved to NZ in Oct, to Pegasus. I am from Yorkshire, moved here with my husband and 3 boys. I am finding it hard to meet people out here, so would love to get out of my comfort zone and start meeting up with people for a coffee, chat etc...

Hi, I too am finding it difficult to meet up with people. Currently living in Northwood after stressful couple of years so a coffee meet up would be great. Let me know if you or anyone is interested.

Hi Tracy

I tried sending you a PM just now but it perhaps you have chosen not to receive them? Anyway, I had suggested to Jodie that we could meet for coffee (Jodie if you are reading this and didn't get my message, let me know!) so we could meet as a group if you like. I live in Merivale so somewhere near you would probably be close to the middle if there is anywhere you would recommend? Unless you both fancy a trip into ChCh of course!

Hope to meet you both soon.

Thanks for replying! Yes would love to meet up for coffee. I am unable to PM until I've posted 5 times but as I seem to be making a real pigs ear of this it might not take too long!

Hi Tracey, Jodie and anyone else who would like to meet for coffee!

There is a Coffee Culture at 286 Main North Road, just north of Northlands Mall. I haven't been there but have been to a couple of other Coffee Cultures which are both good so we could meet there. At the moment I am free most weekdays and evenings although weekend are quite busy! If weekends are better, how about either this Saturday morning (2nd March) or Sunday 10th.

Look forward to meeting you!

Hi Tracy and Jodie

Tracy, I tried copying you in on the PM reply I sent to Jodie but got the message saying you couldn't receive PMs again  Hopefully you did get Jodie's message. I have also got a new job starting tomorrow, but that means I won't be available week days any longer. If there was a weekend day that you could both make that would be great but obviously I understand if not.

Hope to see you both soon.

Hi Chris

I would definitely like to go for a beer or coffee. My boyfriend who is a kiwi isnt into going out to pubs/coffee shops but being british I definitely am! Let you know a time and place. I live in Mairehau so I am quite central so am easy on where to meet.
