CAT5 is going to process

Dear friends,
i come to know that from other forum the CAT5 applications are going to process very soon

Thanks for original poster

At the meeting with David Wilden at Australia House today, we were told as follows:

All the applications in hand from people in Categories 1 - 4 as listed in the FAQ of 23rd September 2009 are now under control.

DIAC estimate that there are about 3,500 applications in Category 5 - that is, State sponsored but the main applicant's occupation is not on the CSL. Mr Wilden has been told that DIAC are now in a position to make a start on processing the Cat 5 applications.

Mr Wilden said as follows:

* Roughly 3,500 is the number of actual visa applications, not the number of people involved. (I checked this with him specifically and he was definite about it.)
* They will start to process the Cat 5s according to the dates when the visa applications were lodged and they will deal with the oldest applications first.
* They will make no distinctions between the different visa subclasses - first come, first served means what it implies in a situation where the occupation is not on the CSL but the applicant does have State sponsorship.
* There is no foundation to the rumour that tradies may be excluded from Cat 5 processing - the tradies are to be treated identically to people whose occupations are in ASCO Groups 1-3.

Mr WIlden stressed that he cannot say how long it will take to clear the backlog of about 3,500 Cat 5 applications. As & when they receive further applications from people with greater claim to priority, the applications with greater priority will be dealt with first.

That they can't say how long it will take to clear the 3,500 or so Cat 5 applications is reasonable enough. Mr Wilden promised to find out how many of the 108,100 skilled PR & Provisional visas for 2009/10 have been granted as at 30th November 2009 and he said he will let us know as soon as he knows. Once we have that figure it will probably be possible to start making reasonably sensible guesses.

Thanks to all
Ritu

Looks like this might be true. Check out this article:

Embrace Australia Blog Archive DIAC Break Silence Over Sept Changes

It seems like the first Priority 5 people to be processed will be those where Meds & Police checks have already been requested, followed by the rest, in order of filing date. Of course, new applications in priority 1-4 will be moved to the front of the queue.

After reading about the Famous 5's excellent work at Australia House yesterday and feeling excited about cat5 visas now being processed, I have woken up to find the news that........

What a feeling, going from thinking that we had another 2-3 years wait to getting the visa!!!!

Thanks again to the Famous 5 and every1 else on this brilliant site.

yah even i hope so anj....."Embrace Australia Blog Archive DIAC Break Silence Over Sept Changes" in this article it also state about the new future list...which is that list??
A new modl is expected soon
Hi All,

Lets all hope that DIAC will be able to finalise 3500 Category-5 applications before June 30, 2010. After all 3500 is nothing compared to 108,100 target.... But another danger is there!!! If DIAC is adding more professions in CSL.... then more delays..... Lets hope for the best....

IELTS date : June 2009

Date of 176 appl: 03.09.09

Dear friends,
The following article will give clear picture about the new changes

Thanks

basically they are getting to applications where medicals and PCC was requested, it is uncertain if they would be touching the other applications where the application is state sponsored but did not have a CO. they have said nothing about non CSL ss applications where the medicals have not been done, i doubt they would be looked at in this program year which ends in June. But again, with DIAC, anything is possible, you never know :)

cheers

hi anj

looks like good news is coming this new year.i have made some study in some other blogs which says according to the CSL list there are many medical practioners and engineers, all the doctors or engineers or any health care field people have to attend examinations to get a visa with the DIAC.and for all the exams huge fees to be paid. so finally there will be hardly any people who would want to take up the CSL and the rest follows as we all know ,but still we must hear it from the DIAC .

regards to all
ajay
ajay, i dont expect them to grant non csl visas in this financial year which ends in june :).. so yeah next year is anyways good fro us, june or jan, it doesnt make a difference to me

hi anj ,you are going through the time frames given by them .but i also forgot to mention that if they dont work on other visas ,the people employed with DIAC are going to sit idol till june.they have already stated that they are over with the CSL visas and now will start looking into CAT 5.frankly it is a little confusing for me too but have to hear it from the HORSES MOUTH to know exactly.lets hope for the best at the earliest
ajay, they have a fixed quota for each year, i dont know how many have been granted or how many left but from what i assume they would be working on applications where the meds had already been requested, once that is done with (approximately 3500) they will move to those who were not requested meds, i dont see anything happening in next 4 months. this is what i feel. i might be wrong
Hi Anj,

You wrote that..... ""ajay, they have a fixed quota for each year, i dont know how many have been granted or how many left but from what i assume they would be working on applications where the meds had already been requested, once that is done with (approximately 3500) they will move to those who were not requested meds, i dont see anything happening in next 4 months. this is what i feel. i might be wrong"""

As per above... you mentioned that 3500 apprx applications are those Category 5 applications where CO has asked Meds and PCC!! But I think that 3500 applications are those Category 5 applications with SS submitted upto 23.09.09....irrespective of whether CO asked Meds and PCC.... Anj please correct me if am wrong.....
