Hi All,

How long does it take to get a Case Officer assigned?

I have submitted my documents on 24th September at Manukau office but yet no case officer has been assigned. I just have received an email saying that I would take five months.

On the forum and I have read that I could take only 4 to 6 weeks. How do they assign Case officer? Is it based on priority or first come first served?

Having your application assigned to a case officer (CO) can take a matter of a couple of weeks up to several months.
Applications are assigned by priority and when a CO can take on extra work.
Immigration do have many CO's across the world but when you break down the numbers that work in the offices around NZ there aren't huge numbers of them and there are many hundreds of applications to get through. As far as I know applications via the Family Stream - so partnership category, dependents etc take priority over everything else, then applications for visas via a job offer, then visas without job offers and slotted in between then are all the other many types of visas available.
It is not on a first come first served basis.
