Hi There,

I am a Canadian living in Edmonton, AB planning to move to MEL or SYD. to Is there any info on moving expenses and support for Canadians planning to move to OZ in Australia or in Canada? I am going to visit first before applying for the visa 457 skills independant. Also, do some companies sponsor you if you apply to stay in OZ if you are a tourist. I am just thinking if it makes sense to go for a visit and then apply for permanent migration. Thanks for the advise.

I can't help you about moving expenses from Canada but have you tried doing a search on the forum? You may find some info then.

As for sponsorship is your skill in demand? If not then it can be tough to get sponsorship since companies are encouraged to take people that can already work here rather than sponsor someone new.

Well, it shows on the SOL list as Technical support manager. I was an IT manager at Dell. So would like to be in that industry but still planning to apply as a Retail Store Manager as I am a Manager currently. Thanks for your support.

I may not understand the numbers just yet. I am willing to go within VIC or NSW as I have some friends there. I want apply as a skilled independant. Thanks for the help.
