If I may ask you some questions,

1). What do you/partner do for a living?
2). Ages of you/partner?
3). Have you any idea of where you'd like to live in Canada
Im a 26 year old electrician and my partner doesnt work as she cares for our disabled son. To be honest im willing to go where ever the work is at the moment.

May I ask what disability does your son have? The reason for asking is that Canada has potential medical restrictions. If the condition would place undue expenses on the Canadian medical system he could be denied entry.

He has mild cerybal palsy, he is only 3. I have asked a few people about his eligibility but no one iv spoken to has ever come across the situation so havent been able to answer me properly.

I wish I had a definitive answer but I do not. If its a mild form there's a possibility it will not preclude his admission.

As a time-served electrician you would be permitted to apply for PR (Permanent Resident) status and could sponsor your wife and child. You may be required to obtain your Red Seal qualifications for your trade in Canada. From application to admission would take 6-9 months. You should read Welcome to Citizenship and Immigration Canada to learn more. The application form is on this site.
Some insights for you. It will cost you about $25,000 to begin a new life in Canada. If you haven't been here it would be beneficial if you could do a visit to get the lay of the land. You are obviously disenchanted with the UK but be sure you are thinking of emigrating for the right reasons. It will not be easy and you will probably not have any support system here until you develop one. Some people come and hate it, some love it and all emotions inbetween. I know this will seem a stupid thing to say but this is not England. Most things are different so if you expect much the same you will be greviously disappointed.
Much Good Luck and ask us questions. There are other posters here with many experiences which may help you.
