Hi all,
I got an assessment from ACS with 2231-79 (Senior Officer) last year with no CSL/MODL.
I applied back in March 2009 to DIAC for immig.

Now I want to reapply to ACS to claim 2231-79(C# Prof) and if positive then upload to DIAC to put me in CSL.

Can I do it?

I lodged the same question to DIAC and got reply:
For their application to be valid, all main applicants for a GSM visa are
required to nominate a skilled occupation. Once an application has been
lodged an applicant cannot change their nominated skilled occupation. If
an applicant has skills in more than one occupation on the Skilled
Occupation List (SOL), they must decide which one of those occupations
will be their nominated skilled occupation. Applicants must also satisfy
that at the time of lodgement, their skills have been assessed as suitable
for that nominated occupation.

This is important because the points available for the applicant’s
occupation and where applicable, “Specific” employment factor, Australian
employment factor, Occupation in demand factor and the relevant English
language threshold are all tied to the applicant’s nominated skilled
occupation.

It is not possible for an applicant to produce more than one skills
assessment in an attempt, for example, to claim points for being skilled
in an occupation that has been added to the migration occupation in demand
list while the visa application is being processed.

In very limited circumstances - particularly in relation to Computing
Occupations we may consider that the two occupations are so similar that
we would accept a different skills assessment to the nominated occupation.
In this instance the applicant cannot change in order to get the MODL
points.

I have applied for Skills Assessment for ACS on 2nd May 09 and received the positive skills assessment in July 09 with 2231-79 (Not Elsewhere Classified) as my nominated occupation. At this time i have only 8 months of experience in Oracle because of which i haven't received 2231-79 (Oracle Specialist) as my occupation which is in CSL. I have applied for VE175 with the above skills assessment which is neither in MODL nor in CSL in August 09.

It's been almost 9 months i have filed for Skills Assessment and this 9 months i have been working on Oracle which increase my experience to 1 Years 4 months in Oracle. If i apply for a skills assessment now i hope i will receive 2231-79 (Oracle Specialist) as my nominated occupation which makes my occupation in CSL.

Will it be possible for me to upgrade my existing nomination of 2231-79 (nec) to 2231-79 (Oracle Specialist) as i have the required experience in the VE175 application?

Hi Kiran

this post was posted sometime in september, the rules were changed in september itself, now if you get a different ASCO code, you have to withdraw your previous application and apply afresh with new ASCO code. this is clearly mentioned on DIAC site. i suggested having a look before you apply for re-assessment. If you dont mind paying teh fee again, go fro it but remember they do not refund the fee previously paid.
