Hi,

I am in a bit of quandry here. I have a state sponsorship that will expire on April 15th. All the documents are complete other than my wife's passport which is under processing. I am not sure if I will get it by 15th April. I in case I don't get her passport by that date can I apply for the PR for myself and add my wife later when she gets her passport. Thanks for your help as I need to decide quickly on this.

15th April is still a long time. these days you will get in 3 days after you appear in PSK if no police verification is required else it will be 4 -5 weeks max. when did u apply and why u think it will be delayed beyond April?

You should have gone for tatkal passport.

While filling out the application form you require to punch in your wife's passport number without which you cannot include her in the application.

I assume u mean a PR visa...well yes u can apply without your wife's passport...the primary conditions (occupation on SOL, skill assessment, ur information, ielts slip) to meet at the time of application lodgment does not include ur wife's passport.

your best bet is to make a paper application as the online application will oblige you to provide passport details for any other secondary applicant included...make a paper application n just skip the passport information...soon after u get her passport you courier it as additional info.

Yes you can include her later on but you have to pay some fees.
Whereas if you include her in the current application it should be taken care off within the same fee which you are paying.

With PSKs it should not take more time to get passport these days.

One more question, if I am able to get the passport number and date of issue etc. from the passport office somehow can I file the online application?
Do I need to submit the scanned copies of actual passport? If yes, then how much time is available to do that?

I doubt if you can get that. Online they will update only PP number and only when u get it u know all other details. BTW, again why 6 months? Is it stuck in police verification state? What is the state shown online?
Even if you have all details you will get 28 days to upload the doc. or else when CO is allocated he might ask for it.
