Hi all,

My husband applied for his British citizenship several months back. We were curious as to why the approval of his application was taking so long, but considering it had been less than 6 months (which the Home Office website lists as a designated amount of time), we weren't overly concerned.

A few weeks ago, we received a letter in the post informing him that his application had been approved but that he had missed his citizenship ceremony and only had until the end of November to let the Home Office know that he was in the UK and still wanted to continue with his application.

Since then, we have tried every possible way to contact them - phoning our Council, phoning the Home Office, e-mailing [email protected], sending letters in the post. We were told that the Home Office would sent his Citizenship letter to the council by last Thursday, but we talked to them today and they are now only telling us to speak to the Home Office.

Does anyone have experience with a letter being lost in the post? We honestly never received anything until earlier this month and are now petrified that his application will be cancelled.

Any help would be extremely appreciated.

Thanks,

Elise
