Hey yall,

Ive just passed the LITUKT (woop woop) and have been starting the research for my ILR.

I had a biometrics appointment in the USA prior to my spousal visa, do I still have to go for the new BIOMETRIC RESIDENCE PERMIT?

I saved the set form M to my desktop- and thought ooo I had better check to see if there are any new forms. Well now the new Set Form M says to get this permit.
Ive checked on the UKBA site, and it states :From 29 February 2012, all applicants from outside the European Economic Area (EEA) applying to stay in the UK for more than 6 months will have to register their fingerprints and digital facial image

but when I went to the form notes, it states a letter will be sent to you if you are required to obtain the permit.

I just need to know if I am supposed to do this permit, or not?
Yes, you need to get it done again for your ILR - new rule that came in on Wednesday. If you get same-day premium service (recommended), it will be done at public enquiry office when you attend.
Biometric residence permit is now issued to much larger groups of people. It will be sent to you by post after you attend your appointment.

I dont know if I will have the money to apply same day....so I may have to do it separate.
Joppa- I cant find a price for the permit separately, any ideas how much it is?
It's £810 by same-day premium service and £510 by post, but that can take 3-4 months, during which you can't leave the country and you are without your passport. If you have to fly out for an emergency, you must request your passport back and lose all your fees, and if your visa expires while away, you have to get indefinite leave to enter (ILE) visa abroad before returning. While £300 is quite a sum, you must balance it against the inconvenience and possible additional expense you may incur (paying again for ILE).

You don't pay extra for your biometric residence permit (BRP) - it's included in the cost of the settlement application.
